The cover for 2nd Chance Karma Yoga Studio is done! I am so thrilled with the outcome.
This is my first book and the first time I have asked another person to take a few notes from me and create a visual image. Are you ready to see the cover? Here it is!

Romance or Chick Lit?
I knew from the beginning I wanted an illustrated cover similar to the covers on books written by Julie Caplin, Lucy Coleman, Holly Martin, and other chick lit authors. I discovered this style of cover is intended for chick lit books. When I began my writing journey, I thought I was writing clean romance. While my book definitely falls into that category, the bigger defining category is chick lit.
I let Google help me find a way to create this style of cover. I looked on Fiverr and 99Designs but nothing really stood out for me. A keyword search led me to few different companies offering pre-made or custom cover designs. My initial reviews turned up nothing.
Finding a Cover Designer
Then, a magical moment happened! I discovered Yummy Book Covers by Enni. Her portfolio had the exact style of book covers I wanted. I reached out to her and she sent me a questionnaire asking what I wanted–colors, fonts, imagery, book title and the like. I sent her a photo of the downtown scene from Winter Park, Florida which I based my fictional town of Serenity Palms on.
Enni took a couple of days to create three different mockups for me to choose from. I could request further modifications at this point, but I was completely in love with the cover I selected as is. That’s all it took! Enni delivered the final pdf eBook file along with additional vector character images that I’ve used on Instagram posts and will probably use on ads at a later time.
Print Book Covers
Since I published my book as an eBook and a print book, I needed two different types of covers. Enni handled the print cover too. the cover image wraps around the spine onto the back cover. The book title and my name appears in the same font as the front cover along the spine. It’s beautiful! It is an incredible feeling to hold a print book with your name on it!
I also hired Enni for an extra fee to do the interior formatting of the print edition of 2nd Chance Karma Yoga Studio. I attempted to do this on my own, but quickly became frustrated. As it turns out, there is no way I could create the interior design of the print book as she did. Again, I am so happy with the outcome!

2nd Chance Karma Yoga Studio is book one in a series that will span at least 3-5 books. I plan on using Enni at Yummy Book Covers for each cover and interior formatting of the print books.
